Is Feta cheese safe in pregnancy?

Generally safe

Yes — feta is safe when made from pasteurised milk.

What the evidence says

Feta is safe in pregnancy provided it is made from pasteurised milk. The vast majority of feta sold in UK supermarkets is pasteurised — check the label. Traditional Greek feta from small producers may be unpasteurised; avoid unless confirmed otherwise.

Why this matters

Pasteurisation eliminates Listeria. Feta itself is not mould-ripened, so the concern is purely about the milk source.
