Is Anchovies safe in pregnancy?

Generally safe

Yes — anchovies are safe in normal amounts.

What the evidence says

Anchovies are safe in pregnancy. They are preserved (salted, cured, or oil-packed) which makes them shelf-stable. The main consideration is their salt content — watch overall sodium if you eat them regularly.

Why this matters

Small fish like anchovies have very low mercury. The salt content is the only practical limit.
