Is Hard goats cheese safe in pregnancy?

Generally safe

Yes — hard goats cheese is safe in pregnancy.

What the evidence says

Hard goats cheese, including aged varieties, is safe throughout pregnancy even if made from unpasteurised milk. The soft mould-ripened goats cheese (with a white rind) falls under the "avoid unless cooked" category with Brie and Camembert.

Why this matters

Hard cheeses are too low in moisture to support Listeria growth. Soft goats cheese with mould rind carries the same risk as Brie.
