Is Chamomile tea safe in pregnancy?
Safe with limits
Occasional cup is fine; large amounts not advised.
What the evidence says
An occasional cup of chamomile tea is generally considered safe in pregnancy. Large quantities or concentrated chamomile supplements should be avoided, as some studies have raised theoretical concerns about uterine stimulation. One or two cups a week of ordinary shop-bought chamomile tea is fine.
Why this matters
Chamomile contains compounds that, in high doses, have been associated with uterine effects in some studies. Normal tea amounts are too dilute to pose a risk.
