Is Chicken safe in pregnancy?

Generally safe

Yes — as long as it is cooked through with no pink meat.

What the evidence says

Chicken is safe and a great protein source in pregnancy, provided it is cooked thoroughly with no pink meat and the juices run clear. Avoid chicken liver (high vitamin A) and be cautious with chicken liver parfait at restaurants — always confirm it is fully cooked.

Why this matters

Raw or undercooked chicken can carry Salmonella and Campylobacter. Thorough cooking destroys them.
